THE SEEKER (#2)

This version of The Seeker was carved of Indiana oolitic limestone in 1999.  It is 33"x24"x22", and currently resides in a lovely flower garden on Samish Island.  It is one of 11 seekers I have carved over the years, both male and female, in different stones, and different sizes.  This was the second, and is the largest one so far.  This image is one of the most important to me, because it portrays the inner person, deep within us all, who is searching for enlightenment.  What is it all about?  Where do we come from?  Why are we here?  What does it all mean?  This is the simple question we ask.  And it seems that only by assuming this attitude, naked and completely open, can we hope to receive an answer.  We may spend an entire life in this quest, or many lives.  It is all that our highly evolved intellects were meant for.  It may be the most human thing we can do.
