TREE OF LIFE

Here is a modern petroglyph, a natural slab of Canadian limestone, engraved with a line drawing of A Tree of Life.  The image is a very ancient idea, that we and all other living beings grow out of Mother Earth on one enormous stem of the same living tree.  Like the prehistoric Norse Ygdrassil, and the  tree of life described by modern scientists, the development of all life on Earth through space and time is represented by the tree with roots in the ground and leaves in the sky.

This carving is about 4 ft high and 1 ft wide.  It was displayed at Peace Arch Park in Blaine, WA, during the summer of 2006.
