YOUNG'S PARK

PEACE CIRCLE

This was a collaborative project involving Leadership Skagit 2008 class Team Radical Leap, Skagit County Parks and Recreation Department,  the Samish Indian Nation, and many citizens of Guemes Island, where Young's Park is located.  The park is named for Gerald Young, who was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, and who received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic actions there.  His widow and daughter, Yadira and Melody Young, both contributed to this project, and without their enthusiastic support, it wouldn't have happened at all.
